Influenza (flu) is a highly contagious viral infection that can cause serious illness during pregnancy, with increased risks to both the mother and the baby.
Influenza vaccination is strongly recommended at any stage of pregnancy and is safe, effective, and important for protecting both maternal and newborn health. The influenza vaccine is funded for eligible patients and is available at the clinic.
Whooping cough (pertussis) is a highly contagious respiratory infection that is particularly dangerous for babies aged under 6 months.
Vaccination during pregnancy allows protective antibodies to pass to the baby, providing early protection after birth. Pregnant women between 20 and 32 weeks’ gestation are eligible for a funded pertussis vaccine through the National Immunisation Program (NIP). Vaccination is strongly recommended to protect both mother and baby.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common and highly contagious virus that can cause serious respiratory illness in newborn babies and young infants.
Maternal RSV vaccination during pregnancy allows protective antibodies to pass to the baby before birth, helping to reduce the risk of severe RSV infection in early infancy. RSV vaccination is recommended during pregnancy and is available at the clinic.
Book online or call the clinic to make an appointment for maternal immunisations.
Vaccination against COVID 19, whooping cough (pertussis), RSV and influenza is strongly recommended during pregnancy to protect pregnant women and their babies against these serious infections. These vaccinations are funded and offered at the clinic.
