Results Follow Up

Patient Responsibility for Results

The practice maintains a policy requiring patients to take personal responsibility for their test results. Patients must ensure that appropriate follow-up is arranged with their referring doctor or specialist.

External Test Results

Test results that are ordered by external doctors or specialists and provided to this practice as copies are not the responsibility of this practice to follow up.
Responsibility for follow-up remains with the ordering practitioner and the patient.
Patients are advised to contact the requesting doctor or specialist directly to obtain and discuss their results.

Follow-Up Appointments

We strongly encourage patients to book a follow-up appointment at the time a test is ordered. If you are unable to make a follow-up appointment at that time, please ensure you contact the practice to follow up on your results. This helps safeguard against any issues that may occur during the electronic transmission of results from the investigating laboratory or organisation.

Reminder &  Recall Systems

Reminder & Recall Systems

The practice is committed to preventive healthcare and continuity of care. Patients may receive reminder and recall notices from time to time offering preventive health services and follow-up care appropriate to their clinical needs.

It is essential that the practice is able to contact patients or their nominated emergency contact where clinically necessary, including for urgent or significant results.

Patients are responsible for ensuring their personal details are kept up to date with the practice, including address, contact phone numbers and next of kin details. If these details are not current, the practice may be unable to contact patients regarding abnormal results, recalls, reminders, or important follow-up care.

Patients may opt out of the practice’s reminder and recall systems at any time by notifying the practice.
