Influenza (Flu) Vaccination

Influenza (the flu) is a contagious viral infection that causes significant illness in Australia each year.

Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for everyone aged six months and over to help prevent serious illness, hospitalisation and complications associated with influenza infection.

Under the National Immunisation Program (NIP), free influenza vaccines are available for eligible groups at higher risk of severe disease, including:

  • Children aged six months to less than five years

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged six months and over

  • Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy

  • People aged 65 years and older

  • People aged six months and older with certain medical conditions that increase the risk of severe influenza and its complications

Flu vaccines for eligible patients are funded under the NIP. If you are not eligible for a free vaccine, you can still receive a private influenza vaccination at the clinic or through a pharmacy when stock is available. Speak with reception for current availability and any applicable fees.

We are taking bookings for flu vaccinations online or by contacting reception.

It is generally recommended to receive the influenza vaccine each year before and during flu season for optimal protection. Talk with your GP or nurse about the most appropriate vaccine and timing for you.
